Fred joined The Pool Management Group family in 2014 as President and General Manager of Columbus Pool Management.  After having spent 25 years in the waterpark industry and around pool facilities, Fred’s expertise and passion for aquatics is a tremendous value to his customers.  Fred began his career at Geauga Lake Amusement Park in Aurora, OH where he worked during the summers throughout his undergraduate degree at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia.

After college, Fred joined Walt Disney World Resorts as the Recreation Coordinator at Disney’s River Country in Orlando, FL.  He held positions ranging from Director of Operations to General Manager for a number of well-known properties that include Raging Waters (Salt Lake City, UT), Kalahari Resorts (Wisconsin Dells, WI and Sandusky, OH), Wild Water Adventure (Clovis, CA), Castaway Cover (Wichita Falls, TX) and Chula Vista Resort (Wisconsin Dells, WI).

Fred has a Master’s Degree in Commercial Recreation and Business and a Doctorate in Recreation and Tourism with an emphasis in Urban Planning.      
 
Originally from western Pennsylvania, Fred spent many years in Ohio where he got started in aquatics and is excited to be servicing the Columbus, Ohio area.

Chelsea Nelson 
Human Resources

Chelsea joined the Columbus Pool Management Team in 2017 as our Human Resource Manager. At the start of her professional and educational career, Chelsea first acquired a taste for the aquatics industry while working at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI while completing high school and the first two years of college. During the five years at Chula Vista Resort as the Waterpark Food and Beverage Manager, the opportunity to become involved in Human Resources arose, which led to interviewing hundreds of international students both nationally and internationally. While completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin – Stout, Chelsea solidified her passion in Human Resources while completing a study abroad program and internship in a Human Resource position at Queensland Airports, Ltd. in Queensland, Australia.


Additionally, throughout her collegiate career, Chelsea also gained experience managing food and beverage establishments. Chelsea has been ServSafe certified since 2012 and became a ServSafe Instructor in 2018. Thus, with Chelsea’s Human Resource and Restaurant experience she brings a unique blend of talents to Columbus Pool Management, and the Pool Management Group.


Chelsea education consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotels, Restaurants, and Tourism Management with a minor in Business Administration.

Jayce Diaz 
Regional Director

Jayce joined Columbus Pool Management in May of 2015 after spending 5 years in the waterpark industry.  He began his career at Noah’s Ark Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, as a lifeguard.  From there Jayce accepted a position with the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort of Wisconsin Dells (The Nation’s Largest Waterpark Resort), where he worked as an Aquatics Supervisor and oversaw eight different waterparks.  Due to the enormity of The Wilderness Hotel, and their need to cultivate lifeguard teams (Wilderness employs in excess of 350 guards during the off-season, and over 500 guards in-season) Jayce obtained his American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certificate, and received the coveted National Safety Council First Responder certificate.

Since joining Columbus Pool Management, and the Pool Management Group Jayce has worn many hats, from working with the maintenance team, as well as the management team within the organization. He is a Certified Pool Operator, and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer.
 

Our Safety Advisors

As part of The Pool Management Group network, our customers and employees receive the expertise of our internationally renowned Safety Advisors, Dr. Tom Griffiths and the team at Aquatic Safety Research Group. Their expertise is instilled throughout our risk reduction techniques and lifeguard training.  

Dr. Griffiths was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and is a Paragon Safety Award winner for his water safety efforts. He has been awarded the National Recreation and Park Association Distinguished Aquatic Service Award for a lifetime achievement and designated a European Lifeguard Academy Friend of the Academy for significant contributions to preventive Lifeguarding. Dr. Griffiths has also been named to  “Who’s Who in Aquatics- The Top 100”, and “Power 25- Top 25 most powerful aquatics professionals in the World”, by Aquatics International Magazine.

Dr. Griffiths has authored more than 300 papers that have been published in scientific, professional and popular journals. He is an external reviewer for the American Red Cross Swimming and Diving publications.

Our parent company, The Pool Management Group, and the 15 other companies in The Pool Management Group support Columbus Pool Management in our operations. In fact, the employees at headquarters don't run any pools directly. Instead, they're solely dedicated to assisting the various locations in our family of companies.
